Eleven-Year-Old Saves World From Loonatics

While the rest of us were whining about it, eleven-year-old Thomas Adams of Oklahoma took action to let Warner Brothers know that Looney Tunes fans weren’t happy about the slick new anime-influenced “Loonatics,” which were basically dark, violent versions of Bugs Bunny and pals. Adams started a petition and a web site to Save Our Looney Tunes

Well according to this AP article, Warner is listening, and has announced plans to alter the Loonatics. No indication what this ultimately will mean for the show, which hasn’t even aired yet. But in the article a Warner suit indicates that the Loonatics are being “softened” and made to resemble the original characters more. I’m not sure that’s what fans want, as I’m sure most of us would rather the show just be scrapped.

Still, it’s unprecedented that a studio would alter a show before it even airs in response to fan outcry led by an eleven-year-old kid. And frankly, it shows how spineless and diffident the Warner Execs are. They’re quick to spit on the legacy of their own properties in the name of making a buck off a new generation, then they back off before anyone has actually seen the show.

Anyway you slice it, good job Thomas!
